MY ROLE
As originally conceived, my role was to serve as UX and UI support, but I was quickly asked to assume greater responsibility including planning and leading design research efforts, building out a robust design system, and leading the implementation of the application’s UI with front-end developers.
While on Folio, I leveraged a variety of methods including, usability testing, interviews, surveys, and larger focus groups. We used synthesized findings to create recommendations to clients and business owners to shape, inform and refine our requirements, available features, and final designs.
As the lead UI designer on the project, I created and built out the application’s design system, which leverages government-wide web standards (USWDS) and the atomic design system methodology. I worked closely with the development team to ensure a cohesive, user-centered, and technically feasible designs were developed. This included creating work items, assigning tasks, and reviewing the front-end items for final approval.
